Star Trek Reanimated: More Tribbles, More Troubles

‘Star Trek’: The Reimagined Animated Series, ‘More Tribbles, More Troubles’

Having been all of 13 when the animated Star Trek made its animated debut on NBC’s Saturday morning lineup in 1973, I was impressed with the fact that the actors were reprising their roles and many of the scripts, which truly did feel as though they could have come from the original series. But even then I was bugged my the animation from Filmation, the limited movement of the characters and the constant repetition of key actions.

More recently, I was often struck by the notion that it might be cool to take those audio tracks from that show, cleaning them up digitally and creating new animation to go along with them, thus revitalizing the show for more modern audiences. I also realized that there was no way Paramount would invest the capital to do so and figured it was a pipe dream. But along comes YouTube user Ikarus1701 who has decided to do it himself. You can check out the results for yourself in this reimagining of the David Gerrold scripted “More Tribbles, More Troubles,” sequel to the live-action episode “The Trouble with Tribbles.
