‘Do You Remember?’ — I’m On the Staff of That Nostalgia Site

Posted on

I’d spent 15 years as executive editor of Life Story and Movie Magic magazines at Bauer Publishing, when those magazines were abruptly canceled and what should have been a ticket to the unemployment line, instead became — after a weekend of actually being unemployed — a shift over to the company’s digital division. For a time I was named Executive Editor, US for empireonline for what was supposed to be an American spinoff of the British publication, but that never quite happened. Instead, I moved over to closerweekly.com, where I served as Film/TV Editor and found my place writing about Classic TV — and I had a ball. Interviews, profiles, hosting a podcast all devoted to what is now deemed classic television, but for me was simply television growing up. Then COVID raised its nasty head and, like so many other industries, journalism and publishing were impacted greatly. So goodbye closerweekly, after which I spent three months at doyouremember.com and had a great time at that nostalgia site. Flash forward a year and I’m back at DYR, writing about Classic TV again and greatly enjoying being part of the team. Check out what I’ve been up to there.
